The International Women's Fishing Association was formed in 1955 to promote women's fishing in an arena primarily dominated by men. Over the years it has become one of women's most prestigious fishing clubs, setting the standards for conservation and providing education through scholarships. The IWFA adopted the International Game Fish Association species list in 2004 giving members' world-wide opportunity to compete in their own back yards. The IWFA promotes angling competition among women anglers and promotes release tournaments. They annually host three or more release tournaments in different areas such as Louisiana, Guatemala, Mexico, Islamorada or Virginia.
Members fishing from piers, beaches, lakes, rivers, pangas, skiffs or sport fishing boats of all sizes, compete for monthly and annual awards based on the entire IGFA species list in both fresh and salt water. Columbia was a proud sponsor of the 2007 Tournament in Keymorada, Florida.
